Today we visited Sturgis, Michigan just eight miles north of Howe, Indiana. They call this whole area Michiana, funny isn't it?? Fuel will be $.35 cents a gallon cheaper in Michigan than in Iowa and just two miles out of our way in the morning.
We also realized that since we are in the "Heart of Amish Country", we should see what we could find. Sooooo, we headed to Shipshewana just a few miles away. Once we turned toward the town we noticed the size of the asphalt shoulders were wider than usual and very well used as evidenced by the wheel tracks. But, in the actual town where all the shops are, I was very surprised by all the "made in China" and "made in India" things for sale as well as how much was Christmas decorations. Isn't it still September?? Also, signs were about Amish and Mennonite people. Not for sure who we were seeing. Was very interesting seeing the cultures collide. So many cars into town to do the tourist thing and then people just trying to live their lives!
This was as a Chiropractor's office.
On to Jefferson, Ohio tomorrow...
