Oh my gosh ! ! !

This has been an interesting couple of days.  Not ones we really want to repeat and we are not sure how they will turn out yet.  Yesterday we traveled through beautiful upstate New York.  Again, lots of corn growing but also one vineyard, the first we have seen. We had a waterfront campspot in Robert Moses State Park in Massana, New York right on the St. Lawrence River for the night but when we went to checkin they said that our reservation was really for the next night.  Went back and checked out itinerary and realized that we had checked out of the free Thousand Trails Park a day early so there went the schedule. We also realized that we like Oregon State Parks much better than New York.  Only have electric hookups in NY and no place to get water easily so we are really low as well as they want you to take your trash out with you.  Hummmm. THEN, soon as we get the RV settled it starts pouring rain.  Pretty soon we can not even see across to the locks.  It pours til almost dark so we really didn't see much until dark and then we could see the huge ships moving into line for the locks.  Woke up to clear blue skies but that only lasted about half an hour before the clouds moved in for the day.
We were up at 7:00am in hopes of moving into better weather in Vermont.  We knew we were going through very rural areas but wanted to see the countryside.  Beautiful again.  We called the Moose River Campground in St. Johnsbury, Vermont to move up out reservation.  No problem there.  Told them we would be there in a few hours.  Today was gonna be 5-6 hours on the road. We get just into old downtown St. Johnsbury and about 3 miles from the park and Ken hears something and then sees tons of white smoke coming out of the tailpipe.  OMG.  He is able to pull over and take up about 50 feet of parking right across from the Fire Station. Not sure what to do we decide to ask the firemen if they have any suggestions for a truck service center.  By the time I can cross the street, a whole bunch of little ladies are watching "the show" and one of them has already alerted the fireman and so by the time I cross the stree, the firemen are are hanging out the windows upstairs asking if they can help. They give me the phone number of a business that is in New Hamshire about 20 miles away.  Then we remember that we have Good Sam Roadside Assistance so we call them and have to get their approval.  Also, we call the park. Amazing, the owner of the park comes into town to help us too and stays with us until the tow truck leaves with our RV. After about five phone calls it is settled what company can come tow us and where we can take the RV for repair.  Since we came up with the name of the tow company, we have to pay anything over the $500.00 for two hours work that they agreed on for the tow. The park owner also has an excavation company so he knows big motors.  Both he and the tow truck driver feel like we have a blown gasket on our RV that only has 35,000 miles!!.  He gives us the name of a company that he trusts and has done work for him.  We also bought an extended warrentee with our RV to the tune of $10.000.  Sure hope it covers this.  This company opens at 7:00am, hopefull since we are camped in their front yard, they will be able to help us out in one day.  We have about five hours left to get to Maine and our "Grand East Coast" Guided RV trip that starts on Thursday ...  My oh my, knew this was all going way to well.  Will update again tomorrow ! ! !
