Detour ! ! !

WOW, what a day...  we wake up in the super cold, foggy parking lot of We Fix Trucks where we were towed the night before to the tune of $500 for 20 miles. We are so cold. They open at 7:00 am and had listened to their voice mails by the time we go in about 7:15.  They are very nice and get right on diagnosing the problem.  Contrary to what we had been told about their ability to work on the Cat diesel, they can't.  Apparently you must go to a Cat Dealer.  Our Good Sam Roadside Assistance had paid for the tow and were very hesitant to tow again.  We Fix Trucks told us that the closest dealer was 105 miles away.  We called them and they definitely would work on it today..   HOWEVER, not so easy.  We call Good Sam and they take hours to decide that they will only pay for us to be towed to a shop about 20 miles away and will not pay for 105 miles, even though the tow company quoted us a price (since they do a lot of work for the Cat Dealer) and their price was lower for 105 miles than 20 miles on Sunday.  Good Sam was not impressed. We Fix Trucks told us that the closer shop was just like them, they would just send us to the dealer also...  Frustrated we decided to just chance it and called the tow company that Cat recommended.  It took them three hours to get to us and then an hour to load our RV, takes a lot of work to do that, then another two hours to the Cat Dealer. Needless to say, we got there at 4:00pm.  However, they were soooo nice. Their mechanic was very hopeful and also said he would start working on it at 7:00 tomorrow morning.  Then they proceeded to find us a hotel that would allow Mandy to stay with us.  Now, this has been a great find.  The Comfort Inn cut our room rate in half from what they had quoted when Cat made the reservation as well as they didn't charge us for Mandy.  NICE !!  Then she recommended the very same restaurant a mile away that the Cat Dealer guys recommended.  She even gave us a coupon for a free appetizer.  What a nice evening.  But, I think the best part for us in a warm room, with hot running water for a wonderful shower. Hoping tomorrow is a terrific day and we can travel to Maine and be right on time for our trip down the east coast ! ! !   Surprised how many states we have been through, these little states are just so close together.   Good night everyone !!
