Moving again and Monuments
Today we moved from Amish Country in Pennsylvania to College Park Maryland about an hour out of Washington DC. We hardly got parked when we boarded the bus for the monuments tour of DC. My goodness, there are soooo many you loose track of where you are and what you have seen. Was very surprised by the amount of space around each monument. We actually had to drive between them. Washington has been our favorite city so far, much wider streets and actual bike paths, either in the middle of the lanes or very well marked on the side of the lanes. Also, there is the Potomac River, it's beautiful too.
The WWII Memorial is huge!!
The Washington Memorial is seen from everywhere
The Vietnam Wall is beautiful in it's simplicity. A diamond design next to the name indicates that the body was brought home for burial and a cross next to the name indicates that the person is still MIA or POW. Very humbling place especially with the group we are with, many military guys.
The Martin Luther King Memorial.
The Roosevelt Memorial is another huge one. In and out around many walls with several waterfalls and numerous monuments.
The Smithsonian Castle
No flags flying over the house or the Senate as they are all out campaigning. They will all be off a lot til after the first of the year. Wonder why nothing is getting done???
The Washington Memorial at night is really beautiful
A beautiful but long day of travel and site seeing.
