Valdez, Alaska

Rolled into Valdez and into the only road construction after a very bumpy ride with all the frost heaves on this section of highway.  We saw one moose which was running along the side of the road due to noise, we think.  Then off into the forest...
Along the way.....

The Worthington Glacier is right along the highway just outside of Valdez

This is Bridal Veil Falls on the left and Horsetail falls on the right, both just outside of Valdez.

The view from our campground in Valdez and in the town of Valdez there is a fish hatchery where, we understand, that when the tide comes in the salmon come in, then the seals and then the bears.  We didn't get to see bears there but many of our guests did.  We did see the seagull nests on the bridge.

Friday, July 8, 2016 we had a nine hour boat ride through Prince William Sound to the Mears Glacier.  What a day...  Saw cute little sea otters like crazy, Steller sea lions and harbor seals, Dall porpoises, a black bear and humpback whales... Made up for the travel days lately where we have not seen any wildlife..  Oh, I forgot the birds, Kittiwakes, marbled murrelet, horned puffins, cormorants, tufted puffin and, of course, bald eagles ! !   Great day on the water..

Fishing boat with their nets out.  They use small boats to take the nets back and forth and then when the trawlers are full of fish they take it to the tender boats who then take the fish to the processor.

Hummmm, Harbor seals

Meares Glacier right up close and personal...

People loved when it calved but all I could think of was it is getting too warm ! !

Floating among the ice cubes..  See that beautiful turquoise color!!

Pretty much saw it all ! !

A magnificent day ! !
