Homer, Alaska

Again, you cannot get used to these views.  You are probably tired of hearing me say that they are absolutely stunning ! !  We are camped right on the Kachemak Bay front looking out at the boats and then the snowy mountains ! A lot of our group went halibut fishing but the fish were fairly small, darn it. We all ended up with only eight pounds of fish each fisherman.  Turns out that Donna O'Connor caught the biggest fish!!!  YEA...

Homer is a fun little town out on the spit where we are camped.  Tons of tour companies to take you around the area for all kinds of things including bear viewing which appears to start around $500.00 per person ! !  YIKES !  Great places to eat also, however, fish and chips for lunch was $21.95 ! !

Went into "town" to the Saturday Market.  Very organized and a whole lot bigger than I expected.  But, it was the usual booths.  Fun anyway !!

So hard to leave this beautiful place but heading to Anchorage today, July 17th.
This is the Homer Spit.  Hard to see but we stayed way down near the end, out in the middle of the water

These two perched here on this crane for a couple hours
If you ever watch the Kilcher family on TV, you know that they live in Homer and hang out at the Salty Dog Saloon.  Very interesting bar.  Every thing possible is covered in mostly one dollar bills ! !

Beach camping is also very popular.  The locals take over on the beach side.  Lucky we were camped on the bay side.
