Catching up to Banff and Jasper

Boy, between internet and time, things have gotten away from me. Was able to post to Facebook a lot easier and quicker than to this blog. We left Coeur D'Alene on 6/22/17 and spent two nights in Radium Hot Springs, BC .  This is the view from The Canyon RV Park. These rams are roaming all over town and do not seem to mind the traffic. They actually wait for it to pass. LOL

This is from the road above the campground.. A creek runs through this park. So pretty...

On the road to Banff. Nothing compares to the Canadian Rockies!!

Emerald Lake

This is the Natural Bridge

This is a picture of the lodge at Lake Louise and we understand that the room charge is a mear $2,200 per night.
Along the road, our second grizzly siting.
Moraine Lake
There were up to about 30 elk at a time feeding in our campground. A couple babies still nursing were with them. No fear of people at all.
Tomorrow we are off to Jasper, still in the National Park. Interesting thing is that you cannot own your land in either of these towns and cannot live there or retire there unless you own a business. Very interesting. Here are some of the mountain views we pass ~~

Amazing that we get to pass all this !
On the way we will stop at the Columbia Ice Fields for a tour on the tundra buggy up the glacier. The guide says that this glacier will be completely melted in the next 50 years. They moved our viewing area 100 feet up higher from last year. She said it is melting at about 50 feet per year. Very sad to see.

These buggies cost a mere 1.5 million to buy, tires are $5,000 each. The buggy has a top speed of 12 mph.

Waterfall along the highway. Just took a shot out the window while Ken was driving. Pretty good !!

Caught a pretty good shot of the braided river of rock flour too ! ! Rock flour is created by the glaciers grating on the rocks below them and "sanding" it off into flour. No fish live in these waters and wildlife doesn't drink it either.

This guy was just grazing along side the road...

Tonight, June 28 (would have been my brother, Jeremy's birthday) Hard to believe that he has been gone almost five years now. We are in Jasper at another beautiful, wooded National Park. It has poured rain almost all day even though I really tried to do my sun dances ! ! We made homemade clam chowder for the group but they had to eat standing under the awning and under umbrella's. It was tasty but a soggy day. Cleared a bit around 7:30, right after the Travel Meeting was finished..  Then, the treat of the day..  About 15-20 of these gals and their four babies came through. No cares about all the people.. Didn't know that elk babies had spots too. Thought it was just deer.

Heading to Dawson Creek in the morning. Long driving day and a stop at Costco in Grand Prairie to stock up on the fresh things we need for the next couple campground meals ! ! !   Gotta do laundry too ! ! Fun times !

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

6/19/17....   We have been here since 6/13 and endured rain and more rain. Finally the weather cleared as the majority of our guests came into the park today. We decided to not only try informal get togethers each night anyone was here but to also do an optional Sunset Dinner Cruise on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Almost everyone attended and it was wonderful. Two hours out on the lake with a wonderful dinner of beef and/or salmon with a huckleberry dessert that rivaled any blueberry dessert we have ever had.  Yuuuuuuuum..

On Tuesday, June 20, our official start of the tour, we had loads of food and drink as well as our Introductions, Orientation and first Travel Meeting.  Very busy afternoon/evening. We even tried our version of the veggie train, turned out pretty good.. LOL

and this doesn't even show the hot food...
Bob & Karen Hephner, our great Tail Gunners

Tonight was the official Welcome Dinner at the Cedar's Floating Restaurant about 1/2 mile from the RV park.  It was wonderful, as usual, choice of salmon, prime rib or chicken.  All very good and with huckleberry ice cream sundae. Views were spectacular too.

Taking off early in the morning to cross the border into Canada, wish us good luck with that and then on to Radium Hot Springs.  Will have passes to the hot springs and time to explore or rest...
This is the view often, in the city of Radium Hot Springs!!
