Leaving Palm Desert

We are ending our month in Palm Desert on Wednesday. The time is ending with great Southern California weather after a couple weeks of more like Oregon weather/rain..  LOL Feels like our second home here as we are getting to know people who come back here every January. Will be heading for Pio Pico, a Thousand Trails park in Jamul, San Diego County. Horrible phone and internet services but I have family in the area soooooooo, once a year it is not too bad to spend three weeks. This year we will head back to Palm Desert for another three weeks when we leave Jamul.

Pio Pico was a great time to see my brother and my two nieces. Love our time with them. Went hiking out the Border Patrol gate and it is beautiful this year with so much rain. We had Oregon type rain here as well as in Palm Desert. We have never had so much rain when visiting here in Southern Cali.

The park has lots of electrical problems for the rigs like ours so the best place to park is way in the back. Too bad that this is the view ! !   LOL

After Pio Pico we went back to Palm Desert for another three weeks. We really love it there. However, again this visit it rained and then it got really, really hot, like 98 and dry.

However, did capture this one evening.

From Palm Desert we went to Casa Grande, AZ.  The drive was what we had been looking for in terms of all the desert flowers blooming. It was beautiful with yellow, lavender and white flowers everywhere. The most we have seen anywhere. The cacti all showed new growth and the flowers on them were about to pop. Got to Casa Grande and visited with Ken's cousin Shelly and her husband Dean. We have not seen them in about 35 years. They look the same, how did we get so old ! ~!  LOL  We went to Mexican Dinner at their favorite place and the next day they took us to Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park. Amazing place and a great hike. Found out when we got to Apache Junction that our friends from Lebanon, Jim & Sharon were there the same day. It was so crowded that we didn't see them. Spring break kinda does that.
