70th Birthday Party

So happy for this day to finally arrive so we can celebrate.  Such a different attitude than earlier birthdays.  Too many friends have died recently, five in the last two months, Bob Jarvill, Gary McMillen, Denny Hampton, Fred Tiley, and Julie Saltness. We needed a reason to be happy and just waking up each day is good enough for me! !  Meeting at something other than a memorial service is so great right now ! ! This party was perfect !

Our kids and grandkids really stepped up to help with this dinner party. Gary and his gal Phaedra and her boys, our grandsons, Seth and Sebastian took care of the entire dinner.  No easy feat planning for 100 dinners. Alyssa helped serving too and Kenny helped in quite a few ways including greeting people.  My brother Joe and Corey greeted everyone coming in the front door.  So many comments about how Corey had grown up..  People forgot that he is almost 47 ! LOL. Karen and Kristina did an amazing job arranging all the flowers and taking care to make all the tables perfect ! ! Chris spent the evening spinning all the 60-70's albums that we brought. I loved it all, especially having family and friends close.  Here are some pictures !!

What a great night this was ! !   70 is great ! !

Heading Home

We picked the perfect day to head home, the rain started after a week of wonderful weather for the coast.  Woke up to light rain. So happy that we had picked up all the outside stuff around the RV yesterday and were pretty much ready to go ! !  We head home with 24 packages of clams in the freezer.  WOW. Stopped at Camp 18 for breakfast with the Leeth's and then on home.  The evening news says that it has been raining really hard right where we were camped.

On to our next adventure.  Can't wait !

Clams Are Now Safe ! !

Well we knew we would do it ! !   Went a couple days ago and bought another clam permit for us.  Today was the last day of decent tides so our last day to clam and that works perfect since we are going home tomorrow.  Charlie really needed to head to the other end of the peninsula to clam today as the clams were much bigger there ! !  Went about 10 miles north and then drove another mile or so up the beach.  Lots of people coming and going and lots of holes in the sand.  But....  we got our limits again in about 1/2 hour ! !

This is Charlie clams...

Now, we think that they are all just about the same size as we have been getting except Charlie's.....  we know that his are bigger ! !   LOL  We also lucked out with the weather.  Definitely cooler than the 80's when we got here but no real wind or rain, at least yet ! !   LOL

Tonight is our big dinner out night.  Doogers here we come ! !  Heading back home tomorrow to get ready for company and our party ! !  Can't wait ! !

Last Day of Permit

Well, this was the last day of our clamming permit.  Each day the low tide has been an hour later.  I love it.  Today we drove to a beach access about a mile from our camp entrance.  We were gone a total of about one hour and all four of us limited.  Didn't even get my boots wet today and back at camp by 8:30am! ! See all the holes, no more clam!! Forgot to take a picture of Charlie and Joanne with my phone.  Darn it!

There is talk of getting another permit since we will be here until Tuesday!! Trying to decide if I still want to clam more.  My back is saying enough is enough~ LOL

The guys are cleaning clams.  Shower time for me! ! !  We are heading to the Saturday Market in Ilwaco and lunch near the pier ! ! !
