Cottonwood AZ

Ken and I arrived in Cottonwood AZ on September 22, 2013 to stay at the Thousand Trails Park called Verde Valley.  We find it to be the prettiest park we have stayed in in the TT system.  The weather started out quite warm, like high 90's but has settled into the low 80's for the past week.  Very nice indeed!!

This is the one night that threatened rain, could actually count the drops.  Not like home at all.  All the rest of our days have been beautiful, blue skies!!

We did take off the other day and go on a volunteer led, three mile hike in Sedona at the Red Rock State Park.  It is day use only with lots of hiking trails available.  This tree was along our way and a site from the trail.

We have met some great people including Bob and Donna who have been camped next to us our whole two weeks, they are staying at least seven weeks.  They flagged us down when we were driving in so that we would be parked next to them!!  LOL. Little did they know what that would mean!!  They full time RV so have been sharing a bit of their knowledge as well as getting us very interested in geocaching!!

Heading out tomorrow to Holbrook, October 1, 2013.

Leaving home and first few stops

We left on September 3, 2013 and spent our first night at Loeb State Park on the Southern Oregon Coast.  Fellow Oregon State Park volunteer friends Barb and Ron Oliveira were there so we visited with them for two days.  Then off to Cloverdale and the Russian River TT RV Park to meet Corey and Angela. We had a great time wine tasting, hiking in the redwoods and touring around a nearby lake.

Then on September 9th we went on to Lake Minden in Nicolaus, another TT Park that we like. On September 11th we headed to Manteca to stay at TT Turtle Beach.  They were so crowded that we could only stay one night.  We then spent two nights at the Vasalia Elks.  They are a very friendly lodge and so we stayed for the cook your own steak night.  Very Good!! September 14th took us to The Orange Grove RV Park in Bakersfield.  We visited the Buck Owens Museum and had Sunday Brunch there.  The brunch was very good but quite expensive, especially if you don't drink mimosa's.  Lots of great things to view in the museum.  Fun place but a lot smaller than we thought it would be.
September 16th we headed to Barstow and stayed at a County Park at Calico Ghost Town. Very hot there, close to 100 and very dry ! ! !

From Calico we went to an RPI Park in Needles, Northshore RV, right on the Colorado River, however it was way to hot to stay the four days we planned so we cut our visit short and headed to Cottonwood to the TT Verde Valley Park and extended our visit there.
